- Staying Strong: How to Maintain Motivation in the Face of Adversity
Motivation! Many people believe in motivation, while others do not, as they think they don’t need it and that all they require is discipline to push through. However, today, my message is not to convince you which one is best or to engage in the ongoing debate about the merits of each. Instead, I am here to discuss how to maintain motivation and the role of willpower in achieving your goals. Motivation is strongly needed to push our strong power or energy inside of us to keep on going or nourishing. We live in a world where we experience positive, negative, good, bad, smooth, and rough encounters if I have to list them all, it goes on and on. Life is filled with problems or circumstances that overwhelm us and stop us from being motivated. “Being in darkness does not mean total failure but elevation place to the light” This quote depicts motivation. Everyone needs motivation even if you dislike the word “motivation”. You need it to thrive in your dreams, over obstacles or adversity. Sometimes when you are working on your dreams, you are daring to achieve them, but something is missing: the willpower is missing, it encourages you to stop or pause on your dreams. You don’t feel like pushing further again. That is where willpower to overcome adversity comes in. Before I continues with strategies to help you out, I would like to share areas you can find motivation in. Where to find motivation in times of adversity Motivations comes from different sources to encourage and convince you to keep going even when the going gets tough. You can find your inner energy in: Yourself, where you see the improvement in your behavior or attitude now than your previous self. Progress success in the project you are working on. Stories of other people who are making it in life. Happiness of others. Happiness in yourself. Testimonials or reviews from people you have assisted before. These are a few to help you figure out your sources of motivation but you can find deeper from yourself and life. Strategies to Commence if You Want to Be Motivated and Maintain Motivation Awareness of self I call this the first place of call if you want to be motivated enough to persevere in times of pain and adversity. It is awareness of yourself. What is going on around you is key in this step or strategy. Some people never get notice of the problems around them because they do not recognize them. Since they are not self-aware of what is going on around them. Even when they are faced with financial problems they don’t see it as a problem because they are not self-aware about the things they experience. The most important step to being motivated is to know yourself and identify the challenges you face and find ways to overcome it. Concern about the realities of life. People don’t put themselves to be motivated because they are caught in the web of all rousing. One thing life has taught me is that nothing we experience is smooth or rough. It is a mixture of both. You cannot experience everything all going your way; some days are good, and others are bad. When the bad happens, does it mean life is rough or unfair? We have been taught to be happy in life, all situations must be great. The reality of life is, that not everything goes well our way, when that happens what will you do? Are you going to allow life to control your life? The realities of life teach that being motivated is your readiness to stand fast, and persevere the adversity to change things your way, breeding thoughts of hope to trust the process. Connect with your purpose Motivation can always remind us why we start in the first place and brings forth hope. In hard times, it sometimes becomes difficult to stay on course with your purposes in life that bring peace to us. We want to do anything to survive recommended by other people even if it does not move in life with goals and purpose in life. Our purpose and motivation is linked together if you stay on course with your purpose during times of pain you will be motivated because you know where you are going to reach there, which builds hope and determination to move far. Reconnect with your purpose and always in the love of goals to stay motivated. It will be great if your write your dreams and the reason why are working on it in a journal like Win You Journal. You can write your soulful purpose, and your aspirations down. This will help you in times of obstacles because you will be able to reflect on all your dream ,an goals so you stay on course. Ignite with your motivation Before the strategies to help you to be motivated, I shared a list of sources of motivation. Yes, this is where need it again, revisit your source of motivation. What is your motivation booster? This boost reminds you when to keep on going when you are down. Someone's motivation is just to listen to an inspirational song, this just ignites the inner level to keep on nourishing. I am mostly know for motivating people through my podcast, Elevate with Brigitte, my books, and social media. Some time ago, I paused for a while, and a fan who was enjoying my motivation contacted me, “Brigitte why have you stopped posting these motivation videos, it has helped me a lot ”. After the message, it motivated me to keep on going with what I was doing. Identify your motivational booster to keep moving during hard times. Revisit your goals What if I told you, your goals are too big? It is time to revisit your goals, which may it be too big to be achieved. Break it down into smaller tasks that can be done daily and monthly. Set milestones for each goal, this will serve as a motivator to encourage you and be determined on it. Aside from this, most people who set goals do not set contingency plans in case where adversity comes they can still achieve their dreams. When problems comes in the goals, plans get stuck nothing to convince them to work on it when things don’t go their way. Always have your goals in mind when you want to be motivated Beautify the Problems Sometimes, you have to see the beauty in the bad situations or obstacles. People who have mastered the mind and know its power they can use it profitably and understand the need to turn threats into opportunities. When the mind is weak situation becomes a problem, turn problems into opportunities by seeing the beautiful side of the situation. Try to bring a solution on board by solving the problem, and learn from the lessons along the way during the difficult times. Rewire your mind, and stay strong and motivated during that process. Books that can help you to be motivated Life It High It is one of my books on motivation, it contains 58 motivational messages to uplift your dreams into reality. The ideal reader is for people who are working on their dreams and are stuck and those who want to start working on their dreams. It contains all the motivation you will need to overcome doubt, limiting beliefs, starting your dream, self-care practice, and many more. Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance" by Angela Duckworth In her book "Grit," psychologist Angela Duckworth examines the crucial traits that fuel success. She contends that achievement stems not solely from talent or intelligence, but from a blend of passion and persistence. Through research and real-life examples, Duckworth demonstrates that grit—the capacity to continue despite challenges—is fundamental to achieving our goals and unlocking our full potential. Conclusion Developing the willpower to work on your dream can challenging but a worthy one. Use the information inside this articles to build it up slowly. I guess you have learnt some new here. What is your take home lessons.
- How to start journaling 101: Four basic reasons why you need a journal
I hope you have seen and heard a countable number of authors, therapists, and coaches recommend the art of journaling. This is not just about the recommendations they give. The words they say work. It works, there are no two ways about it. Journaling is the art of recording or writing down your thoughts and feelings on activities you show interest in. It might be your goals, future plans, feelings, and much more life priorities of yours. Authors like myself, Robin Sharma, Ryan Holiday, Austin Kleon, Oscar Wilde, and Henry David Thoreau, just to mention a few, have recommended the habit of journaling your life activities in their books. Here are four reasons why you should start journaling. 1. Tracking Have you considered tracking your activities in a journal? If yes, continue with the great work. For no, I will say you can give it a shot. A journal is the perfect place to record all your progress, flaws and keep note of the changes you do to your body or business. Tracking journals come in different forms which include project tracking journals, mood tracking journals, menstruation journals, journaling prompt and a lot more. With this type of benefit, you are able to sincerely monitor your performance in a designated reason why you are tracking in the Journal. Assuming, you decided to use a project tracking journal, you will be able to monitor all projects you were able to accomplish in a certain period of time, state the reason why it delayed thus reasons why you weren`t able to accomplish it, the resources you need to accomplish your projects, why you weren't able to meet the project period deadline and many more. 2. Goals Setting Goal Setting is an important aspect of our life. We set personal, educational, career, life goals, Just to mention a few. We set goals all the time. We start new initiatives with new ideas then goals, plans, and finally action. Keeping track of our goals is a good thing to do. As part of achieving our purpose in life, we need to set goals and ensure we follow these goals. SMART Method of goal setting helps us to set long and short-term goals in order to make our action works. We need to record these goals in a journal to assess the accomplishment of our goals. This will help you to decide on the goals you will accomplish in the month, quarterly bi-monthly and yearly, also you will be able to determine how you will execute these goals. We all make plans for our new years' resolution, these are part of goals setting, the problem we have to understand is when to set long and short-term goals. Journals help with that since you will be writing all out inside a book, the journal is here to help your memory system to reflect on what you want to accomplish. Indirectly, it serves as a medium of informing the mind to input your goals into action by the tap of your subconscious mind, thus it motivates you that you need to fulfill this life goal you have set. 3. Emotional Release Emotion is a very important thing in our body. We communicate with people, and inside the body with it. Each day we express the maximum number of emotions with ourselves and other people. Happy, sad, joy, annoying, excited, guilty, horrible are some aspects of emotions we share. There are more emotions we share than this. Sometimes, it makes it very difficult to identify if you are happy or sad, you just don`t feel okay. You can't even say the type of emotions you experience. This is when Emotional journals come into place, you will record as you feel and flow. Record as you feel in your being. As many words you can write, just write it. Journals help to release our pain from the experience we attract into the body, later pushing us into a different way of life from our usual self. A release journal helps to free emotions especially negative emotions out because it will affect your mental and emotional wellbeing. When you are able to write your feelings and emotions in a journal you renew your emotions and grow your mental state. 4. Inspiration Who is your inspiration? What is your inspiration? - Save with love : How to help someone with suicidal thoughts and feelings
More than 700 000 people die by suicide every year, which is one person every 40 seconds. There are indications that for each adult who died by suicide there may have been more than 20 others attempting suicide. Suicide is a global phenomenon; in fact, 77% of suicides occurred in low- and middle-income countries in 2019. Suicide accounted for 1.3% of all deaths worldwide, making it the 17th leading cause of death in 2019. - World Health Organisation Suicide death has become more common these days due to many factors. Most people around victims of suicide and suicidal thoughts overlook this. These individuals suffer from personal or business problems, leading them to take drastic actions without considering the possible effects on themselves. People near them often neglect them, leaving them to fight on their own. I often classify victims of suicide or suicidal thoughts as soft people rather than weak people. People often ask, “Why would this lady commit suicide? What is wrong with her?” and conclude that all of them are weak persons. But I usually say people experiencing negative affectivity are not weak or negative but are soft people who can’t handle certain situations or events because of repeated actions they experience. Everyone has their own capacity to handle life situations. ``she will figure it out of that thought by herself``. At the end, regret when finally the lady or gentleman is found in a pool of blood with knife stab in the belly unconsciously or hanged on a circular rope dead. Had I known if this incident could have happen I would have prevented it. I am here to tell you, you do not need to wait for this to happen. You can make change. Let discover more. Why do people engage in Suicide? People engage in suicidal thoughts due to the following reasons:- Facing difficult life events such as trauma, emotional pain, childhood abuse, sexual abuse. Upsetting events in relationships such as betrayal, broken heart. Anger at other people. Misuse of substance/drug abuse. Depression. Anxiety. Personality disorders. Change from physical health conditions to worst conditions like disability. Problems with money or work. Why people usually have thought to end their life? As I said, most of the people who have suicidal thoughts have a final notion to escape the realities of life, want the easy way out, and can’t stand the pressures of this life due to the comparison game they play in their life and other factors. They see their colleagues, friends, and family members experience good stuff in life. So they compare and blame themselves for the bad experiences and worry about changing for the good. When there is no improvement, they think of possible thoughts such as: I am a burden to loved ones No one loves me I am bad luck to my friends and family What is the point in living? Every death is death. Can’t live any longer. I think things will never work for me. No one needs me and many more. Triggers to Notice when someone showcase suicidal thoughts If you don't want them to die before your regrettable say ``had I know`` then pay attention to these triggers. When they become more irritating When they become anxious Experience mood swings More confronting Become quiet Sleep too much or too less Avoid contact with friends and family Say negative things about themselves Avoid contact with other people Always have problems relating to work, relationships, and studies Though people with depression, anxiety, and other mental health-related disorders might show similar signs just notice these signs. In serious cases, watch out for these signs Always speak about things relating to death or dying . Every little conversation they will get they have to speak about death Threatening to hurt themselves Putting things in order like arranging for a will or showing signs that they are giving a farewell note to you. Why do you have to support them? Regret Regret is just a small word with a six-letter combination but deep in meaning and impact. When you refuse to focus and neglect the need to care for someone, I mean close relatives or loved ones, the love they need during times like this and they commit suicide, you gain the experience of blaming yourself for their death. This will cause a long, hurtful feeling and pain in your whole life, which might take years to heal because you neglected their attention, leading to a deep pain of memories. More future ahead of them You need to care for and support them in order to nurture their dreams. Everyone has dreams to achieve. If they commit suicide, they scatter their dreams to help themselves, their family, and society. A brighter future is stopped on the way due to the presence of suicide. So either you help them now or regret it when they are gone. Stigmatization Society can even call names and blame you for the death of your loved ones more especially death relating to suicide. The only way they can use to describe you is `` the lady whose friend committed suicide, the family whose child committed suicide, so, it is time to care for them. In some societies, it is taboo to experience that and therefore will discriminate against you in certain activities in society. Support them and let them know that you care for them. Conclusion Be an agent of change to reduce the chances of death in our country, community, and neighborhood regarding suicide. - Never forget about your ideas and thought : 5 tips to help you recollect them and use it
Do you have creative ideas? How in-depth are your innovative ideas? Do you often forget about these ideas? Well, I have news for you. As humans, we generate ideas from our thoughts and imagination . We create them to assist us in the daily aspects of our lives. We program the thought ideas that might help us now or in the future. We create these ideas. I mean business ideas , thus anything we think that can make our dreams come true. Here are five reasons why you always forget about these ideas. #1 You d on't value Idea creation. Most people who cannot recollect ideas in the memory system don’t use them. They never value or rate the power of the creative ideas they create. They think these ideas are not worthy to be used to achieve their goals or dreams. They are naive about the idea-creation process. So, they decide to let go of it because they are ignorant of the power of ideas. #2 Lack of self-understanding of the power of the mind. Knowledge is power. Most people lack the knowledge of how the brain or mind conceptualizes ideas . How ideas are generated in the mind. They lack information about how their minds use imagination to create ideas . "Everything you can imagine is real" - Pablo Picasso #3 Don't know their identity Self-identity is a problem in our today. People often forget these ideas and pay less attention to who they are, what they can do, their likes and dislikes, and every special thing about themselves. People drive away from the essence of their uniqueness in anything they do right here on earth. They don’t even know how their mental faculty works to help them achieve their greatest priority in life. Understanding yourself can help you value the need to create ideas in life. #4 Lack of Confidence They believe that the ideas they just created won’t work because they heard and have seen people whose ideas have failed. They fear taking the risk of even visualizing and creating them. They don’t have time for that. They lack confidence in themselves and their experiences due to what others say about their plans of making this dream come true. You have heard these negative words about ideas a couple of times and decided not to give room for them. You will not create them at all. #5 You don't record it. Most people feel reluctant to record what they have due to the notion that "someone might steal their ideas" and also feel they can remember it since they are the same person who created it. They forget it in the fastest timeframe, then forget it when it is time to use them. Can't remember them at all, thus ideas visualized has gone wasted unless they see triggers that push them to remember them before they say " I created a similar idea" What if you'd don't receive any triggers? Does it mean that the idea has vanished in thin air? I think you need to answer that. Learn how to remember visualized concepts into ideas Our ideas are powerful. Keep note of them, master them and use them. Like, comment and share if you love this.
